The Appalachian Trail at Cross Mountain Road

Easily accessible with stunning views into Virginia and Tennessee. The first half-mile or so of the trail wanders over lush hayfields of a century-old farm and overlooks Shady Valley, including the Nature Conservancy's historically and environmentally important Cranberry Bogs. From there you enter the deep woods where wild turkey, deer, coyote, and other critters roam.
